Asking and answering in the HealAssist community

Quick answer

Anyone can read and search HealAssist community questions without an account. To ask a question, answer one, or upvote, sign in first. When someone answers your question, HealAssist notifies you. Answers come from other patients, not from doctors — never treat them as medical advice.

The HealAssist community is a board where patients ask each other about treatment, hospitals, costs and recovery. Some of the most useful answers on it come from people who have just been through the thing you are about to.

Can I read the community without an account?

Yes. Browsing questions, searching them and reading the answers all work without signing in. You can sort by newest, by oldest, or by the number of answers, before you decide whether to join in.

How do I ask a question?

  1. Sign in to your HealAssist account

Asking, answering and upvoting all need an account. Reading does not.

  2. Write a title that says what you actually want to know

The title needs at least ten characters. A specific one — naming the procedure, the city or the insurer — gets far better answers than a vague one.

  3. Add the detail and pick a category

Write the question out properly. A very short post that contains a web address is rejected as spam, so give the detail in your own words. Choose the category that fits — surgery, cost, hospital, insurance and so on.

  4. Wait to be notified

When someone answers, HealAssist sends you a notification, and opening it takes you to your question.

How do I answer someone else’s question?

Open the question and write your answer, signed in. You can mark your answer as a personal experience, professional advice, or general — which tells the person reading it what kind of answer they are getting.

If an answer helped you, mark it as helpful — the person who wrote it can see that it did. Answers are shown oldest first, so marking one helpful thanks its author rather than moving it up the page.
