Who can avail free treatment up to ₹5 Lakhs?
Basic Criteria (SECC 2011 Data)
The PM-JAY scheme targets the bottom 40% of the Indian population. Eligibility is based on deprivation and occupational criteria defined in the Socio-Economic Caste Census 2011.
Rural Area Criteria
- Families with no adult member between age 16-59.
- Female-headed households with no adult male member between age 16-59.
- Households with disabled members and no able-bodied adult members.
- SC/ST households.
- Landless households deriving major part of their income from manual casual labour.
Urban Area Criteria (Occupational)
- Rag picker
- Beggar
- Domestic worker
- Street vendor / Cobbler / Hawker
- Construction worker / Plumber / Mason / Painter / Welder
- Security guard
- Coolie / Porter
- Sweeper / Sanitation worker / Mali
- Home-based artisan / Handicraft worker / Tailor
- Driver / Conductor / Helper to drivers and conductors
- Shop worker / Assistant / Peon in small establishment
- Electrician / Mechanic / Assembler / Repair worker
- Washer-man / Chowkidar
